Unprecedented in Los Angeles County, a group of Foster/Adopt Family Agencies, in collaboration with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH), led by Hathaway-Sycamores FFA/ITFC fost/adopt programs, is getting ready to change the face of foster care and adoption in the County. These agencies are rallying in an effort to educate the public about foster care and intensive treatment foster care.
A combination of low reimbursement, bad press and difficult regulations have led to people being hesitant in becoming certified to care for children whether on a temporary basis (for them to return home with family) or on a more permanent basis (adoption). These agencies inspired by the unfortunate number of children needing families in Los Angeles County, have agreed to come together to educate the community at large about what it is like to be foster/adopt parents. The ten agencies are adamant about including all communities such as the LGBT community and across all socio-economic backgrounds.
Where: LA Trade Tech 400 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015
When: Saturday, June 21, 2014
Time: 10am-2pm (Food & Refreshments will be served)

(Training hours available for participating agencies' foster families)
